Overview of Iriminagi

Iriminage - Entering throw.

Iriminage ranges from a short rapid direct technique to a flowing circular movement. Nage moves his body into and just off of Uke's line of attack.
The correct use of distance and follow through is critical in this technique. Like most Aikido techniques, extensive use of rotation and extension is used, particularly in the negative (tenkan) versions of this technique.

The clips presented in these examples are all based around Iriminage. At first sight many of these techniques appear quite different, but the principles behind them cross over all of these examples.

The 'Basic' form techniques are the same method as taught by the early instructors in the UK, namely Sns Kenshiro Abbe, Sns Tadashe Abe, Sns Ken Williams, Sns Masahiro Nakazono.
